In the program of education, research and publishing, we are working on creating a foundation of knowledge on which to base the public advocacy and empowerment of the LGBTIQ community, the sensitization of institutions to the rights of LGBTIQ persons and the building and storing of the memory of the LGBTIQ movement in Croatia. We periodically research the experiences of violence and discrimination against LGBTIQ persons, we collect and keep an archive and reading room with materials related to the LGBTIQ movement in Croatia and we conduct additional research when needed. Gathering data serves to include the experiences, needs and voices of the LGBTIQ community so additional research, educational and advocating activities, as well as creating content to strengthen the community itself, can be based on them. The educational activities we offer to institutions serve to sensitize them to the needs and experiences of LGBTIQ persons, while the archive and reading room, which contain materials donated by the community, reciprocally serve the community by letting LGBTIQ persons themselves be part of building and storing of the memory of the movement.

By following this program, we:

research the experiences of violence and discrimination against LGBTIQ persons; the history of the LGBTIQ movement in Croatia and the region; the needs of official and unofficial life partners and LGBTIQ families; citizens’ perceptions of LGBTIQ persons and their human rights;

educate – we offer workshops to educational institutions (universities, schools, unofficial educational centres such as the Centre for Peace Studies and the Centre for Women’s Studies) and institutions involved in the processing of hate crimes and discrimination against LGBTIQ persons (the Ministry of the Interior – the Police Academy and police stations, lawyers, the State’s Attorney Office, the Ministry of Justice, departments and associations involved in working with victims and witnesses);

publish mostly translations of works on the queer movement, in order to make up for the lack of basic literature on the topic in Croatian. Our publications are available for borrowing or buying in city and university libraries, bookstores and Zagreb Pride’s offices;

offer an archive and reading room where material (flyers, posters, photos, videos, publications etc.) related to the queer movement in Croatia and the LGBTIQ movement in general is stored. Everyone who has any material or literature on the movement is invited to donate in order to save it and make it available for use to the community, researchers and anyone interested.
